Food & Wine
Home to some of the country’s finest food and wine producers, Wangaratta has a thriving café and restaurant culture, all nestled amongst a peaceful, regional setting. You'll also have some of the best producers of cheese, beer and more on your doorstep.
First things first, coffee!
If you find it hard to start the day without a caffeine fix, then you need not worry. Wangaratta is home to a number of cafes offering up freshly brewed coffee alongside gourmet breakfasts, freshly squeezed juices and homemade cakes. Smashed avo, poached eggs and locally roasted coffee are in abundance so you can keep up your Sunday brunch routine. And better still, you can actually get a seat AND a car park even with the family in toe.
If wine is your thing, you’ll feel right at home in Wangaratta.
The Glenrowan, King Valley and Beechworth Wine regions are all within a stone’s throw of Wangaratta. Take a trip down Prosecco Road in the King Valley where you can sip on some of Australia’s best prosecco courtesy of Dal Zotto, Brown Brothers, Chrismont, Pizzini and Sam Miranda wineries!
For those who prefer the amber ale, King River Brewery and Black Dog Brewery offer hand crafted beers.
Fine food producers
The Milawa Gourmet Region offers an abundance of fine food produce including speciality cheese, mustard, bread, olives, berries and honey, as well as jams, pickles and preserves. Alternatively, the monthly Wangaratta Farmers market brings together seasonal produce from the entire North East region with over 25 stall holders offering everything from artisan breads to speciality meats and oils.
For those special occasions, you can pop into one of our sophisticated restaurants dotted throughout the region, including Watermarc Dining, Rinaldos Casa Cucina, the Mountain View Hotel or the award-winning Patricia’s Table, to name a few.
If you are looking for something a little more casual, the Vine Hotel and Mountain View Hotel offer pub classics with the options to dine alfresco on those beautiful sunny days.
If you are looking for a venue that you know will be a hit with the kids but won't break the bank, many of our local pubs and cafes will ensure the little ones are catered for. Just a few to mention include the Wangaratta RSL, Plough Inn Tarrawingee and Intermezzo Cafe.
